Our Classes


We offer a variety of classes for kids and adults of various skill levels.

THE SCHEDULE FOR THE 2011 SEASON IS HERE!

  • Adult Classes

    • Each and every adult in our classes will learn all the basic knowledge and skills to be a successful paddler. Along with basic knowledge, adults will also learn basic safety including channel safety and what to do if you tip over or capsize. This is a two night class and can be very relaxing after a long day at work or home.

    Adult Courses are available on Monday and Wednesday nights starting June 27 and ending August 24. All of the recreational departments that offer courses through us also offer adult courses available, you can also contact us to sign up for an Adult Course.

    Cost: $60

  • Kids Classes

    • Our Kids classes are aimed to teach kids basic knowledge while having fun. Kids classes are 3-4 days depending on the location. Most kids leave our program with all the knowledge they need to be a successful paddler. We believe that kids learn best while having fun so, we offer as many games as possible including: Kayak Tag, Battleship, Baseball, Limbo and Follow the Leader. Our classes are 2-2.5 hours again depending on location.Kids classes for the 2010 season will be $95 per child and include a single person kayak, life jacket, and paddle.

  • Advanced Classes

    For paddlers who have some experience and are looking to learn more, we offer a multitude of advanced classes.

    • Beyond the Basics (Kayaking II) - This class is for kids ages 8-16 who have taken our basic kids class before. During class we cover more advanced maneuvers such as lean turns, bracing and moving sideways using the draw stroke.
    • Rescue Class - This class is not recommended for kids younger than 16 years old and is open to adults of all ages. We teach a total of 8 different rescue techniques including team rescues and self rescues.
    • Rolling Class - This class is also not recommended to kids younger than 16 and is open to adults who are experienced paddlers.  If you wish to learn how to roll, you must call to arrange a time and date.

    *Rescue and Rolling Classes are not Recommended to kids younger than 16. Although, if kids of a younger age wish to take these classes they must complete the Basics class and the Beyond the Basics class and be recommended by one of our staff members to be eligible for the class.
** Rescue and Rolling classes are only offered on Little Pond in Morton Park located in Plymouth MA.

    Rescue courses are scheduled upon reservation, we are available most weekends during the Summer and will be hosting a Rescue/Rolling course on Saturday July 23.

  • Adaptive Classes

    • Along with the ARC of Greater Plymouth, we offer kayaking classes to kids and adults with developmental disabilities. This class runs twice a week for five weeks during the summer and covers everything in the basics class along with taking the students through Plymouth harbor.     For the 2011 season, Adaptive courses will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8pm. Please contact the ARC of Greater Plymouth to schedule Adaptive Courses.
  • Private Classes/Tours

    • Private classes can be arranged at all of our locations and will cover everything from the basics to advanced maneuvers depending on the skill level of the paddler. To arrange a private lesson, call or email us.
Tours are also offered in Plymouth Harbor to families, couples, and singles. Family paddles can be arranged at any time and tours will be scheduled on a daily/nightly basis. Moonlit paddles to Plymouth Long beach are a beautiful and relaxing way to end your day. Call or email us to arrange a tour.

    We would love to take you paddling so if you want to take a class but it does not fit into your schedule, call us and we will try to arrange something that fits your schedule.
